My Identity and Worldview
Exploring the connections between land, culture, and relationships in shaping who I am.
«My identity is not just one thing; it is made up of all these connections and experiences that link me to my history and my community.»
In Indigenous worldviews, land, culture, and relationships are vital parts of identity. The land connects people to their ancestors and history. Culture keeps traditions alive, while relationships with family and community help us learn and grow. These connections show that identity is about our place in the world.
My own identity is shaped by my Afghan culture, the places I have lived, and the people around me. Moving from Afghanistan to Alberta and now British Columbia has given me new experiences. My family, language, and values are the foundation of who I am today.
